Become a Let’s Prevent Facilitator
Do you want to expand your skillset? Are you interested in making a difference to individuals and families in the South West?
Beginning in August, Diabetes WA will be rolling out Let’s Prevent, a new structured education program, throughout the Bunbury Region.
The Let’s Prevent program is designed to educate, inform and empower people at high risk of developing a chronic disease to make positive, sustainable lifestyle changes. The program ultimately aspires to help adults avoid or delay the onset of heart disease, type 2 diabetes or stroke.
More than just a one-off lecture, Let’s Prevent is a 12 month program offering group education sessions, telephone counselling sessions and online support.
We are now searching for dedicated health professionals to train as facilitators to help us deliver this life-changing program.
As a facilitator, you would deliver the group education component, both an initial six-hour session and then a three-hour ‘refresher’ session to participants six months down the track.
Let’s Prevent facilitators will be given all the training they need – for free – and will have a steady stream of session work over the next year.
The first facilitator training course will be held in July 2018 and places are limited.
Let’s Prevent Training
Date: Tuesday 17 and Wednesday 18 July 2018
Pre-requisites: No prior medical knowledge of type 2 diabetes, heart disease or stroke is necessary.
This program sits within the successful DESMOND suite of programs and thus employs the same philosophy and principles. Any DESMOND facilitators who wish to add Let’s Prevent to their repertoire would therefore only be required to undertake one day of module training on Wednesday 18 July.
