Did you know that approximately half a million Australians are living with type 2 diabetes but don’t know it?
Or that about 640 people end up in emergency departments annually with dangerously high blood glucose levels due to undiagnosed type 1 diabetes?
National Diabetes Week will take place from Sunday July 9 to Saturday July 15 and this year’s theme is It’s About Time. Diabetes WA will be spreading awareness of the symptoms and warning signs of both type 1 and type 2 diabetes, and highlighting the importance of recognising possible problems and complications of the condition before it’s too late.
Please see below for a National Diabetes Week 2017 PDF poster for your display board, information and statistics on detecting diabetes and comments from Diabetes WA credentialed diabetes educator Rebecca Flavel.
We would encourage you to help raise awareness about the importance of early detection and diagnosis of diabetes to your community during National Diabetes Week.
