Diabetes WA’s Diabetes In-Depth workshop has received endorsement from the Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association (APNA), Australia’s leading organisation for nurses in primary care settings.
The endorsement highlights the program’s effectiveness in equipping health professionals with essential skills to manage diabetes and support patients, reducing hospitalisations for people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes by promoting evidence-based practices in primary health settings.
Delivered by Diabetes WA educators, the workshop provides participants with the latest knowledge on diabetes management, including practical strategies to deliver care in community health centres, medical practices and aged care facilities.
“Our recent endorsement by APNA confirms that Diabetes in Depth provides high quality diabetes training for health professionals,” said Diabetes WA clinical services manager Carly Luff.
“We are committed to providing training that is evidence based, interactive and improves the standard of care provided for people living with diabetes.”
APNA represents a growing workforce of more than 80,000 nurses, accounting for 1 in 8 of Australia’s 640,000 registered health professionals. Its endorsement underscores the critical role nurses and allied health workers play in improving diabetes care in non-hospital environments.
An endorsement by APNA ensures that educational activities for primary health care nurses are relevant, evidence-based, professionally delivered and developed by credible organisations.
Endorsed activities require formal evaluations to assess whether learning needs and objectives are met.
Diabetes In-Depth training is open to a wide range of health professionals, including GPs, registered and enrolled nurses, dietitians, diabetes educators, pharmacists and exercise physiologists. By enhancing their skills, participants contribute to a stronger, more effective primary health system for Australians living with diabetes.
